An unusual English astronomical clock, 19th century
The square case with columnar angles and supported on a stand with four legs joined by stretchers, with paper-covered dials to three sides and movement viewing aperture to the fourth; time dial with Roman chapters and subsidiary seconds ring, with cut steel hands; astronomical dial with outside ring numbered I to XII twice, inner concentric ring numbered 1 to 24, the central disc bordered by labels for the zodiac, with months of the year and days of the month, a starmap of the northern centred by a hemi-sphere showing the northern part of the globe, within a frame of compass points, with revolving sun and moon; zodiac dial with outer ring giving months and their number of days, inner circle giving houses of the zodiac, with central disc showing their symbols and the equinoxes, the five brass hands terminating in planetary symbols; the twin train clock movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell, with drive to other dials; possibly adapted
