Album containing approx. 250 photographs, all but a few albumen prints, including one four-part and one three-part panorama, 8 x 40 in. and 8 x 27 in., other sizes from 4 x 6 in. to 10½ x 14 in. or the reverse, the majority titled and/or numbered and with photographers' credits in the negatives, variously mounted, occasional titles in ink on mounts, half black morocco, titled in gilt on front cover, folio.

Lot Essay

River, harbour and garden views, architectural studies and street scenes; two studies of mummies; portraits of men praying, shopkeepers, water-carriers, a Bedouin woman with her baby (illus.); several costume studies, a portrait of a Sheik; and views around Greece, Sinai and Switzerland including a portrait of a chimney sweep with his dog-pulled wagon.
