Paul Smith's introduction to fashion was entirely accidental. At the age of 18 he was marched off to a Nottingham clothing warehouse to find a job as a dogsbody. Within two years he was managing his own boutique. His first own-label collection was shown 22 years ago. Now the head of an international, multi-million pound fashion empire, with over 200 shops world wide, Paul remains a hands-on designer, with personal input into everything that goes on.
