A Rare Venetian Schiavona Dagger
First half of the 18th Century
With blade of tapering triangular section with pierced narrow fullers on each side, the silver hilt with strongly down-turned quillons with roped mouldings, spirally fluted ovoidal pommel, side-ring set with five turquoises, and original silver wire-bound grip with Turk's heads, in original silver scabbard set with a turquoise and engraved with foliage, the initials 'V.T.' and the date 1733 (?), Venice (?) silver marks and maker's mark PNS
