With strongly curved double-fullered single-edged blade (some pitting), back-edged towards the point and with grooved back near the hilt, the russet (originally blued) iron hilt comprising an oval side-ring on the outside with central recessed moulding, slender knuckle-guard en suite but incorporating an ornamental loop, upturned inner shell, unusual small lobe-shaped rear quillon, flanged cap-shaped pommel, and natural staghorn grip set with longitudinal iron strips and with deep iron ferrule, the iron parts encrusted throughout in silver with a trellis pattern set with dots
