The first by William Mills, London, No. 325, circa 1830, the second circa 1860
The first with twist barrels signed 'Will.m. Ling. Gun Maker. 61. Jermyn St. James's. London.' on the narrow rib, case-hardened patent breeches each with platinum plug, engraved tang, finely engraved locks each signed 'W. Mills Improved', figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip (fore-end chipped, grip cracked and bruised), finely engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon, and wooden ramrod (incomplete): in a leather motor case with some accessories, London proof marks; the second with octagonal twist sighted barrel stamped 'I. Hollis & Sons London', engraved patent breech, engraved lock also with Hollis signature, half-stock (reduced from full), and engraved iron mounts
