A Very Rare 18-Bore Break-Action Breech-Loading Flintlock Sporting Gun
Circa 1700, probably German
With tapering vertically-hinged sighted barrel with sighting flat and brass fore-sight, grooved at the rear of the breech and fitted with reloadable iron cartridge with attached pan and steel, plain tang, rounded back-action lock with moulded border, moulded finely figured rootwood half-stock, the fore-end carved as a stylised monster-head, and iron sling mounts, the barrel release catch forming the front of the trigger-guard, the butt-plate stamped 'No. 7. Der Frster', in very fine original condition throughout
