With polygroove rifled browned twist octagonal sighted barrels struck with Lige proof mark and numbered '1' and '2' on the breech, engraved tangs each with adjustable back-sight, signed scroll engraved locks, figured walnut half-stocks, fluted butts, fore-ends each with a scallop shell in relief, scroll engraved case-hardened iron mounts, set triggers, one with applied finger support bar, and much original finish, the escutcheons silvered and gilt with the arms of Salm

Made for Frst Joseph zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck (1773-1861), distinguished botanist and author, Prince of the French Empire from 1804, and of Prussia from 1816
Adam Rosen, recorded 1801-1860, moved from Cologne to Schlo Dyck, where he succeeded Pierre Greverath in 1928. He also worked as a steel-chiseller (2)
