A Very Rare Cased Set Of Two Single-Trigger Over-And-Under Flintlock Pistols, Comprising A 100-Bore Pocket Pistol And A 24-Bore Travelling Pistol

The first with reblued octagonal sighted barrels signed in gold on the top flat and with gold lines at the breech, platinum vents, signed finely engraved case-hardened external actions with rollers, 'French' cocks, safety-catches and rainproof pans, chequered figured walnut butt, unmarked silver mounts engraved with scrolling foliage including trigger-guard and spurred pommel with gold cap engraved with a coat-of-arms, gold escutcheon engraved with owner's crest and initials, and original steel ramrod with chequered tip; the second of the same design, with rebrowned twist barrels, the butt with engraved shoulder stock aperture, steel 'skull-crusher' butt-cap engraved with foliage, and silver escutcheon engraved with owner's crest and initials, both pistols with some original finish: in original fitted mahogany case (lid cleaned off) lined in green baize with trade label (slightly damaged) and accessories including individual red leather-covered three-way flasks and bullet moulds, and complete with original figured walnut detachable shoulder stock with signed engraved steel mounts, silver maker's mark of Moses Brent

The arms on the butt-cap are those of Gore of Barrow Court, Somerset, quartered with Brown of Kiddington, Oxford, and Smyth of Ashton Court, Somerset
