A Fine Italian Corseca
Late 15th/early 16th Century
With three-pronged head comprising a broad flat triangular central blade with a strong medial ridge, set between two similar but shorter radiating blades, their undersides deeply cusped, one struck on one face with a 'twig' mark, tapering tubular socket and two later straps, the base of the head etched with early Renaissance ornament involving panels containing scrolling foliage, cherubs' heads, grotesque figures, profile heads and cornucopiae, all against a hatched ground with traces of gilding, and later wooden staff
