An Italian Glaive
Circa 1600
With large knife-like blade with convex single edge, back-edged point, sharply pointed flattened crescent-shaped rear spike set diagonally, and two small pointed basal lugs, with faint traces of engraved decoration on one face, and linked by a cushion-shaped moulding to a tapering socket of flattened rectangular section, two side-straps (incomplete), and later wooden velvet-covered staff with tassels (velvet damaged)
