Lot Essay

A Night To Remember is the second of three films to have been made about the sinking of the Titanic, the first, Titanic, made in 1953 by Twentieth Century Fox and the most recent film of the same title released in 1997. The ship's bell in the above lot, situated at the bow of the vessel, is seen in one of the film's most dramatic moments when the iceberg is spotted and the alarm is raised. According to the vendor, he acquired this bell from Trading Post Hire in 1978.
