An 18th-Century silver Augsburg-pattern compass sundial,
signed L. Grassl on the underside of the compass box, the upper surface of the horizontal plate with diamond and scroll decoration, the hour-ring engraved III-XII/I-IX with sprung pin gnomon and folding latitude arc engraved 0-90°, the underside of the compass box engraved with the latitudes of seven continental cities and towns -- 2.3/8in. (6cm.) long
