A 17th-Century pocket compass sundial,
unsigned, possibly Dutch, the silver hour-ring and folding gnomon engraved with flowers on one side of the gnomon, the other side unengraved but showing signs of defacement, with pierced scroll and foliate stretcher, mounted on a glass cover for the compass needle, mounted in a blond tortoiseshell bowl with later simulated blond tortoiseshell screw-on cover -- 1¾in. (4.4cm.) dia.
