An 18th-Century lacquered-brass Culpeper-patern compound monocular microscope,
signed on the stage Wm,, Harris & Co 50, High Holborn, LONDON, & at Hamburgh, the body-tube with rack and pinion focusing united with the stage and base by scroll supports, the mahogany plinth base with concave mirror and containing an accessory drawer with four (of five) objectives, ivory sliders, lieberkuhn, bull's-eye condenser and other items, with maker's trade label of the period in pyramid-shaped mahogany case with brass loop handle -- 17¼in. (43.2cm.) high (case and plinth base defective)
