A finely engineered exhibition standard 1in:1ft scale model of a Murdoch-Aitken Steeple Engine of 1840,
built by A. Walshaw, No. 477, from Clarkson castings, with cylinder 1.1/8in. bore x 2¾in. stroke, mounted on a table supported on four tapered, fluted 'doric' columns, valve chest with lubricator and barrelled valve actuating rods, hand and eccentric operated valve, studded stuffing boxes, barrelled connecting rods with gibbed and cottered big and little ends with dummy oil pots, crosshead driven feed pump, webbed crank with squared end and spoked flywheel, gear driven governor, linkage and valve, flanged pipe joints and other fine detailing, finished in black and polished brightwork and mounted on a simulated black and white tiled floor with railings, ebonised plinth -- 19.1.2 x 14¾in. (49.5 x 37.5cm.)
