A finely engineered and well presented model of a single cylinder horizontal side rod mill engine built by G.B. Houghton, Rochester,
with blued steel clad cylinder 1in. bore x 1in. stroke, webbed pedestal mounted bar-type crosshead guides, gibbed and cottered little ends, fluted coupling rods, counterbalanced crankshaft with two main bearings, rope driven Watt-type governor, roped spoked belt pulley and spoked flywheel, finished in red and black with yellow lining and polished brightwork, cast bed mounted on nine turned brass columns, display base and glazed case -- 7½ x 11¼in. (19 x 28.5cm.)
