Also known as the Portugese Bullfighter I & II, these figures were modeled while the sculptor worked in Spain in 1920. These bullfighters are attired in traditional 18th centruy costumes and ride Andalusian horses as the fights were ceremonial and not blood sport. A pair of the bronzes sold Christie's New York, 28 November 1995, lot 150.
