Lot Essay

Bred by Paul Mellon in 1977, Glint of Gold was by Mill Reef out of Crown Treasure. At three in 1981, he won the Warren Stakes at Epsom, the Italian Derby at Rome, the Grand Prix de Paris, the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York and finished second in the Derby (won by Shergar) and the St. Leger (won by Cut Above). At four, he won the Grand Prix de St. Cloud and the John Porter Stakes at Newbury.
