Lot Essay

Bred and owned by Mr. Beardsworth, Birmingham by Filho da Puto out of Miss Craigie won the 1830 St. Leger beating the favorite Priam (see lot 27) by half a length in very heavy going. He was a sickly foal and Mrs. Beardsworth pampered him back to health and he supposedly used to follow her around the dining room table like a dog.
