U.S. Post Office/Local Carriers conflicts over right to carry mail, 1842-66, two letters and seven newspaper clippings-most of latter with dated handwritten extracts, all related to the conflict between the Post Office and private express companies attempting to carry letters, newspapers or periodicals out of the mails, the clippings mention Harnden & Co., Adams & Co., Burgess & Stringer, Holladay, City Despatch Post, etc., apparently the clippings were sent to the P.M.G. in Washington to keep him informed, fine-very fine, interesting collateral
