Lot Essay

Segal rarely accepted commissions in the 1960s, but this portrait of Robert Scull is one of the few exceptions. Scull is depicted leaning against an open rear car door since Scull was particularly proud that he had recently acquired a car and driver.

This work is accompanied by a photograph of the work signed by the artist and dated 1973.
