Original boards, uncut, original slipcase, printed title labels on backstrip and on slipcase. Provenance: Monroe Wheeler (presentation inscription from the artist, "With mountains of love - to - Monroe Wheeler - Sander Calder NYC", handwritten envelope loosely inserted).

LIMITED EDITION, copy no. XV of 50 copies on Guarro's Spanish pure rag paper with colored silk threads, each containing an original drawing for one of the illustrations, from the edition of 665. The original drawing in this copy contains two vignettes, the first of three hens sitting on a stick (headpiece illustration for "A Woman and A Fat Hen"), the other of two fighting cocks (illustrating the last fable "Two Cocks Fighting").
