Three months before signing the Declaration of Independence, as a member of the Committee of Safety, Hart authorises payment for a member of the local Committee of Safety.: "...Hendk. Fisher hath attendet the Commetty of Safty at this setting at Trenton eleven days & for 2 days at New Brunswick in aprall last in all thirten days for witch he is to receive [£3.18s.]...To either of the Tresurers appointed by Congress." Other than signed colonial currency, Hart is relatively uncommon. -- HOPKINSON, Francis. Autograph letter signed ("Fras. Hopkinson") to Nathaniel Appleton, Philadelphia, 14 January 1779. 1 page, 4to, 234 x 203mm (9¼ x 8in.), integral autograph address panel, with free frank: "On public service" (blank section defective). An official letter, as Treasurer of Loans, transmitting "...the following Loan Office Bills of Exchange," totalling "$24,000 dollars for the use of the Continental Loan Office in the State of Massachusetts Bay." Hopkinson, an artist who claimed to have designed the American flag, is uncommon in the form of an ALS. -- WITHERSPOON, John. Autograph letter signed ("Jn Witherspoon") to John S. Dart, Princeton, 6 April 1789. 1 page, oblong, 90 x 200mm (3½ x 7.13/16in.), neatly inlaid. A payment order to John Ross for $21.75 as "the balance of your...account herewith transmitted value received." (3)
