Lot Essay

Governor Fuller served in office from 1925 to 1929. Prior to his gubernatorial term, he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1914-1916) and was Lieutenant Governor (1916-1920) of the state. Inspired by the development of the "horseless carriage", Governor Fuller became a pioneer in the automotive industry. Additionally, he was a patron of the arts and assembled a collection that included works by artists such as Rembrandt, Renoir, Monet, Degas and Gainsborough. This ring and the following agate ring (lot 295) have remained in the family until now.
