Lot Essay

cf. Dr. Egon Neustadt, The Lamps of Tiffany, 1970, p. 129, fig. 181 for a period photograph of a 'Pebble Shade' on a similar blown glass base with a decorative 'metallic' cap and favrile glass ball feet. The 16" Pebble, dome shade is identified as number 1459 in the Tiffany Album, and the base, number 214, is described as 'Pumpkin, pebble decoration, with 16" pebble shade (No. 175)' in the Album. The shade cost $100 and the base $75 in the Price List of 1906.
