An antique Kazak Karatchopf
The pistachio-green field with polychrome hooked and floral panels around a chequered large square panel containing an ivory octagon with polychrome palmettes enclosing a brick-red smaller octagon with a hooked panel centrepiece in a shaded light brick-red border of glass and serrated leaf vine between reciprocal skittle pattern and plain stripe, slight localised wear, small old repairs

Lot Essay

This carpet was part of the furnishings of the residence of a Hague noble family in Bezuidenout, next to the Palace Huis ten Bosch, circa 1910, and is illustrated in Den Haag zoals het was, 17 (1994), back cover.
