A Dutch walnut, burr walnut and marquetry longcase clock

The case overall inlaid with lines and scrolling foliage, the bomb plinth with canted angles centred by a flower basket, on claw-and-ball feet, the slightly waisted trunk door headed by carved rockwork and scrolling acanthus, above the glazed lenticle with gilt-metal mount depicting Father Time, above a flower urn, the hood with later sound frets to the sides and top, centred by a carved bird, surmounted by the caddy-top with giltwood figural finials, the dial signed HENDRIK GYSWYT AMSTERDAM on the silvered chapter ring with arcaded Roman and Arabic chapters, black painted pierced steel hands, the matted centre engraved with scrolling acanthus, with alarm disc, silvered seconds ring, date aperture and apertures for the days of the week and months with their corresponding deities, surrounded by foliate spandrels, surmounted by a rolling moonphase to the arch, engraved with four maidens in period dress, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, the alarm assembly mounted to the side of the plates, minor restorations and replacements
