Lot Essay
As pointed out by Friedlnder, Early Netherlandish Painting, 1969, IV, p.45 & p.97, The Master of Moulins was active at the court of the Bourbons in Burgundy circa 1485-1520. His work shows a strong influence of Hugo van der Goes, for which various scholars have concluded that he was probably trained in Ghent. He is now generally identified as Jean Hey.
