The sitter for the present drawing is almost certainly Marie Hamonet, who lived in Plneuf, a village on the north coast of Brittany where the artist stayed in 1918 and 1919. It is not known why, but John titled certain drawings of Marie Hamonet Annabella or Little Annabella. Public collections which include drawings of this sitter comprise Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge; The Visitors of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford; and Tate Gallery, London.
