Lot Essay

The present watercolour is a study for the larger oil painting from 1955-56 (60 x 42 in.) which was exhibited at the Royal Academy, London in 1956 as no.422. The larger oil was also exhibited at the 1965-66 Arts Council travelling exhibition.
