The present watercolour is a study for the larger oil painting from 1971 (48 x 38 in.) which was exhibited at the Royal Academy, London in 1972 as no.58. The painting was also illustrated in W. Roberts, Paintings and Drawings by William Roberts, R.A., London, 1976, pl.29.
