Lot Essay

London subjects are rare amongst Lowry's works. Only a very small number of London scenes are known to exist in private collections, and only two examples are recorded in public collections: Coronation Procession Passing the Queen Victoria Memorial, 1953 (Government Art Collection), and Greenwich Reach towards Deptford Power Station, 1959 (National Maritime Museum, London).
