A pair of ivory brush holder
carved with a deity wearing an elaborate headdress, necklace and long robes, holding a handscroll beside a praying woman, surronded by a dragon among clouds, the other side with eight Buddhist priests, the other one similarly decorated with a deity wearing a lotus spray and another woman carrying fruts in tray, with ivory balcony shaped stands carved with chrysanthemum, shippo and key-frets pattern, the four feet pierced with paulownias and arabesque -- 14in. (36.8cm.) high, signed and sealed, 19th Century, (some chips and age cracks).
