comprising a miniature Schuco teddy bear, as pupil, with golden mohair, black bead eyes, black stitched nose and mouth, swivel head, jointed limbs and metal framed body --2½in. (6.5cm.) tall; three others, similar; two miniature Schuco panda bears; a golden plush covered monkey as teacher --5½in. (14cm.) tall (worn); and a large quantity of schoolroom and dormitory furniture including six beds with bed linen, chest of drawers, dressing table, wardrobe, table, chairs, fireplace, six school desks with fixed chairs, teachers desk, table, blackboard, noticeboard, abacus, sofa, armchairs, dresser, globe, lamp, and crockery

This enchanting Teddy Bear Boarding School was the property of the late Miss Jean Reid, Febraury 1917 - February 1997, daughter of artist Robert Payton Reid A.R.S.A. (1859-1945).

A large proportion of the furniture was made by Miss Reid's father.

Robert Payton Reid A.R.S.A. (1859-1945)
Born in Edinburgh on 22 October 1859 and educated at George Watson's College, his artistic qualities were acknowledged from an early age, and through the encouragement of his father, he attended the Board of Manufacturers' School of Design, and subsequently enrolled in life classes at the Royal Scottish Academy.
