A SET OF FIVE AMERICAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER BUTTER PATS
Maker's mark of Gorham Mfg. Co., stamped 25 over J; apparently for 1877; one 25 over K; apparently for 1878
Each with finely frosted finish, in the Oriental manner, rounded rectangular, the first with field finely engraved with a bluejay perched on a branch, amid further foliage, with geometric band to border; the second with friendly Oriental dragon on a branch snapping his tongue at a butterfly, similar border, the third with flying bird, the border with similar band and butterflies, the fourth with fan and geometric bands, the last with guilloche and braided bands with fronds and butterfly--4in. (10.7cm.), 15.5oz. (5)
