A finely worked sampler by Ann Ar[?]lidge 1786 embroidered in coloured silks with a central fountain surrounded by a garden and fence, the upper third with the verse "When I can read my Title clear...", the lower third with naturalistic floral trails and a flower filled urn, within a stylised floral border--18 x 22in. (45 x 55cm.), some discolouration; another similar by Lavina Ball 1829 worked with the central verse "Jesus permit thy gracious name...", bordered with various spot motifs including birds, rabbits, stags and butterflies, within a border of stylised carnations--18 x 21in. (47 x 54cm.), both framed and glazed; and a woolwork picture embroidered with silk details depicting Christ meeting the Woman of Samaria--22 x 27in. (57 x 68cm.), third quarter of 19th century, framed (3)
