Lot Essay

Thomas Ivester-Lloyd (1873-1942) was born in Liverpool and was a self-taught artist. The majority of his work was sporting, and he illustrated a number of books, including the British section of Sir John Buchanan Jardine's Hounds of the World. He worked both in oil and watercolour and it has been said that his horse portraiture was some of the best of his time.
