A Cizhou baluster vase
with short neck, decorated around the shoulder with shaped panels of a pheonix, a crane and a couple in conversation, all on a dense ground of stylised scrolling chrysanthemums and whorl designs, the glaze falling short of the foot to reveal the buff pottery -- 10in. (26.7cm.) high, Yuan/Ming Dynasty, related wood stand, (firing fault to base, some old wear).
