Maker's mark of Whiting Mfg. Co., circa 1890
Shaped circular, the sides elaborately repouss and chased with clam, oyster and mussel shells amid two-color gilt seaweed on a matte ground, the interior gilt, with wavy rim, the serving spoon and fork with gilt bowls, the handles applied with crabs and seashells, marked under base and on stems
The bowl 11in. diameter, the servers 12in. long; 39oz. 10dwt.

A similar bowl on four feet without the serving pieces was sold in these Rooms, January 17, 1992, lot 60.
