Among the best known and recognized American 19th century portrait miniaturists, Nathaniel Rogers worked first in Connecticut and then principally in New York City between 1811 and 1839. Rogers was a member of the American Academy, where other miniaturists included in The Chieffo Collection such as Arementa Vail exhibited, and, like Henry Inman, Rogers was instrumental as a founding member of the National Academy of Design.
