Painted in underglaze blue, gilt and famille verte enamel colors with a standing Commedia dell'Arte harlequin figure in checkered trousers, a tile floor before him and a blue roof visible above, an inscription in black reading Wie op Uytrecht of Nieuw Amsterdam (Who wants to speculate on Utrecht or New Amsterdam), all within a border of thickly overlapping green and blue leaves highlighted in gilt
