The first with the arms of Elphinstone within a scalloped rim decorated in 'blue Fitzhugh', the other with the arms of Gordon in the center and the badge of a Scottish Baronet on the rim within narrow blue enamel and gilt borders

Lot Essay

The first probably made for the 11th Baron Elphinstone, Lieutenant Governor of Edinburgh Castle; the second for Sir William Gordon, 7th Baronet. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., p. 973 and 829.
