the rectangular hinged top with chequer-banded border, the front decorated with architectural scenes amongst geometric patterns, with brass carrying handles to either end, on later bracket feet, losses -- 36in. (91.5cm.) wide

Chests bearing this form of marquetry decoration are often referred to as Nonesuch chests and relate to a group of 16th century chests found in England but probably were made in Danzig.
