Shaped oval and on two acanthus scroll feet each applied with a putto holding a floral garland and with shaped-circular drip-pan and vase-shaped socket above, the reed-and-tie frame applied with ribbon-tied flower sprays and bow, the cresting formed as a shaped-oval cartouche applied with a cypher on the initials LR in cyrillic with crown above, hung with floral garland, marked on side, cresting and applied decoration, with wood back

Lot Essay

The firm of Nicols and Plinke, known as the Magazine Anglais was founded CIRCA 1815 and was renowned for their imports of English silver and other luxury goods. They were soon patronised by the Imperial family and awarded with the Imperial warrent. In turn they employed some of the most talented local silversmiths. The firm closed in the 1870s.
