A pair of French silver-gilt dishes and covers with gilt-metal stands and lamps
maker's mark of Charles-Nicolas Odiot, Paris, circa 1846
The gilt-metal stands each on shaped square base on three acanthus bud feet, the sides cast and chased with Greek-key border, the frame on four acanthus leaf-capped ram's mask and hoof feet, the aprons cast and pierecd with ribbon-tied berried laurel branches and paterae, with beaded rim, the dishes each on spreading circular foot, the lower part of the bodies chased with water-leaves and berried acanthus foliage, with two mer-boy handles each seated on a ribbon-tied floral garland, with berried-laurel border, the domed covers each partly fluted and with beaded acanthus foliage borders and detachable figure finial, one formed as a putto with a basket of flowers playing with a lamb, the other formed as a putto emptying fish and an eel from a basket, with plain circular liners with bracket handles, the covers each chased and applied with the initials CR within an oval ribbon-tied berried-laurel cartouche marked on dishes, liners, covers, finials and one stand, one dish, liner and stand with retailer's stamp and pattern numbers 'ODIOT A PARIS', '2514 and 1111'
