Maker's mark of J.E.C. Coffinet, Paris, 1819-1838, with later English import marks for 1936
The circular basin on rim foot chased with band of palm foliage, the everted sides applied with two circular medaillons of Athena, one of Cupid and a monogram EB within wreath, each flanked by swans and foliage, with foliage and berry border, the vase-shaped ewer on rim foot chased with foliage and dart and with beaded band above, the lower part applied with a broad band of feathery palm foliage alternating with bull rushes, the upper part with similar monogram between swan plinths and foliage on a matted ground between beaded bands, the shoulder with foliage and dart band, applied beneath the spout with medallion of Flora between foliage, the handle formed as a winged female bacchanal with bifurcated fish tail, fully marked
