Circular and on rim foor, the bowl with two flat semi-circular hinged covers, with engraved foliage thumbpieces, the sides engraved with scrolling foliage, birds and dolphin's mask, the covers engraved with similar scrolling foliage, marked with maker's mark on base and covers

Lot Essay

The same maker's mark appears on a silver-gilt canteen, comprising a knife, fork, spoon and spice box, which is engraved with the date 1686. It also appears on two further lots, a silver-gilt teapot with three dolphin feet, engraved with hunting scenes, also maker's mark only, and a nest of four beakers engraved with scrolling foliage and birds of circa 1690
