Lot Essay

A picture of the same subject by Turchi is recorded at the Castello Sforzesco, Milan. The technique is comparable to that of drawings by Turchi illustrated in E. Schleier, 'Drawings by Alessandro Turchi', Master Drawings, 1971, IX, pp. 139-153, pls. 17-33b. Dezallier d'Argenville owned at least three other drawings by Turchi, one of which is reproduced in J. Labb and L. Bicart-Se, op. cit., no. 796.
