A counterproof of the present drawing is at Stockholm. It shows that the sheet was originally larger and depicted, on the right, two other studies of women, one seated with her fan open and the other standing in profile to the left. The latter study was used by Watteau in Les Comdiens sur le Champ de Foire in Berlin. The counterproof was acquired directly from the artist by Comte Tessin in 1715. The other section of the drawing is now lost. Rosenberg and Prat date the drawing to 1709-10.
